Mount Vernon Ohio is located in Knox County Ohio.
They have finally charged the boyfriend in a three-count indictment. He is accused of burning his girlfriend’s 5-month-old son so badly that part of the child’s left leg had to be amputated and he needed skin grafts on one arm. He is currently in jail.
The charges allege Keen knowingly hurt the child and failed to seek appropriate medical help for him.
I am sure most of you have heard of this story and how much news coverage it received.
What are your feelings revolving around "accidental" instances that harm children?
I think the issue is not seeking help. If it was indeed an accident as keen states, there is no reason he should not have sought help. According to the indictment the charges are knowingly hurting the child AND failing to seek appropriate medical treatment. We just spoke in class recently about brain development and impulsivity in adolescents. This guy is only 19 years old and may very well still have that impulsivity and not consider consequences at the time. Either way, it is horrible that the child is forever impacted because of mr keen whether intentional or not
